How to Access Your PC or Server Remotely

Overview

VMobility Remote Access (VMobility) enables you to easily access documents, files and applications on remote PCs and servers. It improves productivity by allowing users to work no matter where they are located. VMobility supports several ways to access remote PCs and servers, including support for Microsoft Remote Desktop. We will however highlight a simple and secure way using the integrated Desktop Sharing application known as UltraVNC.

For the business user, Desktop Sharing can be used to provide a flexible road-warrior environment by allowing employees to access their office desktop and server machines from any machine in the company's offices or from other remote sites. Desktop Sharing is composed of two programs: a viewer and a server.

Note to experienced WinVNC Users: DesktopSharing uses the latest version of UltraVNC. Keep in mind that only one version of WinVNC server can be running at one time. If you are using your own version of WinVNC and you don't want your VMobility Network Desktop to control your WinVNC server, then disable DesktopSharing. On the other hand, if you prefer to have your VMobility Client control your WinVNC server, then you must disable your version of WinVNC server and enable DesktopSharing control.

Note: DesktopSharing is ready to use as soon as you join your VMobility Network. By default, your DesktopSharing is disabled (does not allow remote control). By enabling DesktopSharing you enable your system to be remotely controlled by you or any Member of your VMobility Network, provided they know your DesktopSharing password.
